Somali military court sentences al Shabab convict to ten years in jail

Somali military court has on Sunday sentenced al-Shabaab member to ten years in prison.
Muse Mohamed Ahmed was charged and found guilty of two accounts which being part of an illegal armed group and in possession of the F1 bomb.

Ahmed was arrested during an operation by 14th October brigade in November last year conducted at the ancient port city of Marka in Lower Shabelle district.

According to court presentations by the criminal investigations department, the suspect traveled from armed group al-Shabab stronghold town of Janale.

Somali martial court judge, General Hassan Ali Nur Shute announced ten years sentence with an appeal within 30 days.

Human rights groups have consistently accused the court of violations mainly for not giving a just trial to terror suspects an allegation that was rebutted by the court officials.
