Somaliland government has denied a report that a delegation from Somaliland attended a conference on Africa-Israel relations.
A report published by The Times of Israel claimed that Somaliland Defense minister attended a conference organized by Israel’s embassy in France in May which invited French and African journalists, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and artists to examine the future of Israeli cooperation with African countries and businesses.
A statement from the Somaliland Ministry of Defense denied the report, which said that Somaliland Defense Minister Abdiqani Mohamud Aateye had attended a conference organized by the Israeli embassy.
“Unfounded reports have been published in The Times of Israel that the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland attended a meeting on cooperation between Israel and African countries, and it is a clear lie,” it said. ministry statement.
The ministry said that Minister Aateye was part of the organizing committee for the May 18 event at the time of the newspaper was reporting.
“Abdiqani Mohamud Aateye has recently been working on the national tasks. He was a member of the organizing committee for the May 18th National Day and was the deputy chairman of the committee on May 18th,” the ministry said in a statement.
