The Somali government has executed two al-Shabaab members who were convicted for carrying out assassinations in Mogadishu.
In a statement, Military Court said the two who are identified as Shuayb Abdullahi Mohamed and Saadaq Abdi Jabar were executed by the firing squad.
They were convicted for carrying out assassinations to eliminate government officials and soldiers.
Mohamed was convicted for assassinating four people including 3 security officers between 2017 and 2018. Omar was also convicted of killing a soldier in 2019.
The Somali government has recently stepped-up operations against al-Shabaab in the south and central Somalia.
The government forces in cooperation with local militias have liberated dozens of villages and towns in the Hiiraan and Galgaduud regions.
