Puntland sentences bodyguard of late Bosaso DP World manager to death for laxity

A military court in Puntland state has sentenced a soldier to the death penalty after he was found of conspiracy.

In a statement, the court said constable Abdi Ali Shire was convicted for facilitating the murder of P&O ports manager at Bosaso town.

The court said Shire who was the bodyguard of Anthony Farmosa was involved in the plans to assassinate the official and did negligence in executing his duty to protect the official.
Late Farmosa who was from Malta was the construction project manager for P&O Ports.

He was shot dead near Bossasso port on 2nd of February in this year.

The responsibility of the killing was claimed by al-Shabaab.

The state-owned DP world won a 30-year concession in 2017 to develop and manage multipurpose Bosaso port.
