The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble has urged United Arab Emirates (UAE) officials to enhance humanitarian assistance to the Somali People.
In a statement, office of Somali prime minister said the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society officials and prime minister Roble have discussed emergency assistance for the drought-stricken Somali population.
“The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, met with the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and local aid agencies in Abu Dhabi to discuss the need to provide emergency assistance to the people of Somalia affected by the drought,” the statement reads in part.
The development comes barely a month after UAE donated 26 tons of food aid to Somalia, which was presented by Somalia’s Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Khadija Mohamed Diriye.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) pledged to help Somalia after a devastating drought that has hit most parts of the country.
The relationship between Mogadishu and Dubia deteriorated after Somali security forces seized 9.6 million ferried by the Emirati plane.
A security official at Mogadishu Airport said at the time that they seized three suitcases containing $9.6 million from a Royal Jet-operated Boeing 737/700.
