Somalia’s designated prime minister Hamse Abdi Barre has geared up his campaign to secure the support of the parliament and the former leaders of the country.
Hamza accompanied by members of Parliament and Senators, paid a courtesy visit to two former Presidents, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Mogadishu as he rallies support for his candidature as the next Somali Prime Minister.
Both leaders wished him well in his journey to becoming the 21st Somali Prime Minister.
Later, Hamza met with former Prime Minister, Hassan Khaire who also wished him well in the discharge of his duties.
Hamza Abdi Barre, 48 was nominated to serve as the country’s next PM mid-this month by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Mohamud and Hamza’s association goes back to when both pioneered the revival of Somalia’s education sector, following the collapse of the dictatorial rule of Gen Mohamed Siad Barre.
Both Mohamoud and Hamza participated in the revival of schools and higher education institutions as well as education networks.
Before being selected as the PM, Hamza was a legislator from Kismayo, who was elected during the indirect elections held in Jubbland State in December 2021.
