Dozens of leaders from UN, US, Italy, Oman, Turkey, Pakistan, China, Sweden and Qatar have separately congratulated the people and government of Somalia on the 62nd anniversary of their independence.
In a statement, UN Representative in Somalia, James Swan has reiterates the United Nations’ continued commitment to supporting the Federal Government of Somalia, the Federal Member States, and the people of Somalia in their endeavour to build a more peaceful and prosperous future for their country.
In a seperate statement, the US government has pledge to continuing its strong partnership with Somalia
“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people and Government of Somalia on your 62nd National Day,” Antony J. Blinken, US Secretary of State said. “The United States supports your efforts to build resilient communities, foster inclusive economic growth, and increase security for Somalia and its neighbors. We share the goal of a democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for your nation.”
Turkey on its side congratulated Somalia on the 1st July, wishing the country peace and prosperity.
“Sincere congratulations to the Federal Republic of Somalia on the occasion of the National Day! Best wishes for health, peace, and prosperity to the friendly and brotherly people of Somalia,” said the Turkish foreign affairs ministry.
The President of China, Xi Jinping has also congratulated President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Somali people on the occasion of 1st July.
Jinping expressed his readiness to work with President Hassan on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various areas to new levels to the benefit of the two countries.
The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella has sent congratulatory message President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Somali people, reaffirming that Italy remains side of Somalia in its path towards peace, stability, economic and social growth.
