Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met with newly trained Somalia’s naval forces in Eritrea.
President Mohamud who was accompanied by the host president, Isaias Afwerki was briefed by the soldiers who completed their training course.
In his address to the trainees, the president stressed the high confidence the government has in them to serve their country and join the operations to liberate towns and villages under al-Shabaab.
President Mohamud also held talks with Isaias over the return of five thousand Somali soldiers who were trained in Eritrea.
In 2018, over 5000 soldiers were secretly recruited and subsequently sent to Eritrea by the former government by led then-President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
The soldiers who now completed their years-long military training comprise infantry, airforce and naval forces.
