At least 200 members of al-Shabaab fighters have been killed and dozens wounded after heavy clashes with Somali military and local militias in central Somalia.
According to the state media, Somali forces in collaboration with local militias have launched operations against al-Shabaab fighters in Jicibow village, approximately 25 km north of Buulaburte, prompting hours-long fighting.
SONNA quoting military officials reported that the fighters were re-grouping at Ji’ibow area.
“Their intention was to block the road between Bula-burde and Beledwayne cities. But they made a miscalculation, and ended up in a fire,” officials told the state-owned media.
After managed the victory, local people delivered food supplies, milk and livestock to the Somali National Armed forces, a sign of solidarity.
