Turkish government has condemned two separate bomb attacks in two towns of southern Somalia.
The attacks claimed lives of at least 19 people including a district commissioner and wounded 23 others.
In a statement, Turkish foreign ministry has sent condolences to the families and relatives of those lost their lives in the explosions.
“We are deeply saddened to learn that many people including officials and civilians lost their lives and injured in the terrorist attacks that took place in Afgoye and Marka cities of Somalia,” the statement reads in part. “We condemn these heinous attacks in the strongest possible terms and with Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, extend our condolences to the relatives as well as the friendly and brotherly government and people of Somalia, and wish recovery to the injured.”
In the first incident, 13 people including District Commissioner Abdullahi Ali Wafow lost their lives while five others were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Marka town, Lower Shabelle region.
In the second attack, six were killed in two roadside explosions at a local market in Afgoye town in the same region.
The market often hosts many people who come to buy livestock Wednesday, which is a market day.
The al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Afgoye and Marka town.
