Somaliland leader, Muse Bihi Abdi has dispelled claims that he plans to extend his term amid political crisis in the region.
Speaking at ceremony held in Erigavo town, Bihi said his government plans to hold elections within the legal time framework.
“The opposition accuses me that I am planning to extend my term but that is not the case. The elections will be held in time,” he said.
The remarks of the president come days after list of newly appointed members of Electoral Commission was submitted to the parliament for approval.
Last week, the three remaining commission members, including the chair of the poll agency Kaltuun Sheikh Hassan Abdi submitted their resignation letters to Bihi.
