Somaliland leader Muse Bihi Abdi has nominated new seven members to serve as the region’s Electoral Commission barely a week after the commission was completely disbanded following a dispute ahead of the controversial presidential election scheduled for November 13th.
According to a decree issued by Somaliland presidency, the list of seven new members were submitted to Parliament for approval.
The Somaliland President nominated three members, while the Senate and the opposition nominated two each.
The names of the nominated members are:
- Muse Hassan Yusuf
- Ahmed Osman Hassan
- Hussein Abdi Ali
- Ahmed Yusuf Mohamed
- Fadumo Ismail Abdi
- Abdiaziz Hirsi Warsame
- Ibrahim Adan Ali
Last week, the three remaining commission members, including the chair of the poll agency Kaltuun Sheikh Hassan Abdi submitted their resignation letters to Bihi.
