Somali Security agencies captured an al-Shabaab operative in Mogadishu Yaqshid district on Monday night.
According to sources, the individual whose name was not disclosed is said to be a significant figure who was part of the top ranks of the armed group.
He was nabbed in hideout following a planned operation by elite forces.
Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has intensified targeting key armed group figures mainly in Banadir region in the past years.
The agency which does not share details with the media conducted operation outskirts of Mogadishu last month where two suspects together with explosives materials were nabbed.
Somali military court handles cases related to terror charges mainly concerning members of the armed group al-Shabaab.
The court-martial was accused by rights group for violations against suspects in the trial but it strongly rebutted.
