A military court in Mogadishu on Wednesday morning executed two ISIS fighters after being convicted of assassinations in 2018 and 2019 in Mogadishu and Bosaso cities.
According to a statement by the court, Aden Mohamed Ali Mohamud and Mohamed Ali Mohamed Farah were members of the Islamic State-affiliated group based in Puntland’s Galgala mountains under Abdulkadir Mumin’s command.
They were executed at General Kahiye police academy in the capital by a firing squad after serving several years in prison.
The execution of the two comes barely three days after court executed two Al-Shabaab members were executed in Mogadishu by firing squad after Armed Forces Court had found them guilty of multiple assassinations and sentenced them to death.
Somali government forces have intensified operations against al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
According to the Somali information ministry, the government forces liberated villages and towns in Hiraan and Galgadud regions.
