Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has briefed a 30-member African Union delegation led by the head of the African Union high-level implementation panel for South Sudan and Sudan, Thabo Mbeki who arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday.
The main purpose of the delegation’s two days’ visit in the country is to assess the security and economic development in the horn of the African nation.
Somali head of state shared the efforts by his government in strengthening peace, security and economic cooperation while working towards the long-lasting solution for the political based challenges in the East African region.
During their stay, the African Union delegation will also hold round table meeting with members of the two houses, Somali security and economic experts.
Senior Somali government officials including the Deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Mohamed Guled, key cabinet members, presidential advisors, and UN Somali envoy, James Swan.
Thabo Mbeki and his team thanked Somali government for the high-level warm reception during their stay in the country.
