President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has today appointed Ahmed Moalim Hassan as the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority.
In a statement by Villa Somalia, President Farmajo tasked Hassan to head the Civil Aviation Authority and wished good luck execute the responsibility assigned for.
“Meanwhile, President Farmajo has appointed the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Moalim Hassan, and pray to God to assist him with his heavy responsibility,” the statement reads in part.
Hassan who has been previously the acting Director-General of the agency will be first leader of Somalia civil Aviation Authority since the agency’s bill is aproved and signed into law.
Hassan has extensive aviation history which dates back to 1990 when he graduated from the Somali Civil Aviation Institute in Mogadishu.
Meanwhile, Somali president has also assented Somali Civil Aviation Bill which previously was approved by both Houses.
“The President of the JFS, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, has signed the Civil Aviation Act, which was previously approved by the House of the People and the Upper House of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” Villa Somalia said. “The President thanked the leadership of the two both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, the Cabinet, the lawmakers and all Somali experts who took part in the efforts to draft, review and approve this law.”
The law will regulate flight, air travel, and associated legal and business concerns. Aviation experts say that it will be a considerable boost to Somalia’s aviation sector by enhancing airport security and attracting more international airlines to the country.
