The leaders from the Federal Government and Somaliland meeting in Djibouti have agreed to set up a technical committee to spearhead the talks further.
A communique issued following the first day of discussions where President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and President Muse Bihi Abdi addressed the meeting confirmed that the two sides are closely working together.
“The President of Somalia and the President of Somaliland have come to understanding that a technical committee comprised of both members of the two delegations will resume the talks between the two sides and follow up pending issues already agreed upon.” A document by the Djibouti Foreign Ministry noted.
The meeting which proposed Djibouti as the venue of the technical meeting called for the support of both regional and international towards the process.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo expressed the full support of his government towards the committee.
“President Farmajo wishes the committee’s success and reassures the Somali people and all the stakeholders involved the unlimited support of the Federal Government of Somalia.” Villa Somalia said.
