The Federal Government of Somalia has recorded 95 new coronavirus cases in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Services 65 males and 30 females tested positive for the virus on Monday.

On the other hand, five new death was recorded by authorities putting the overall death toll in the horn of African nation to 66 so far, 31 patients also fully recovered from the virus.

The new discoveries have put the number of positive cases in Somalia to 1,689 highest in the region after Djibouti.

The Government of Somalia said it is taking extra steps to curb the spread by increasing testing capacity by putting in place more laboratories with COVID 19 equipment.
