Galmudug regional state authorities have announced plans to start the establishment of local district council in its administration.
The minister for interior, federal affairs and reconciliation, Abdi Mohamed Jama’ named seven members committee on Monday to spearhead the process.
He said the move is meant to implement federal constitutional requirement to devolve governance by bringing government services close to the people.
“The ministry of interior has kicked off process to establish district council members in Galmudug state as part of efforts to devolve governance in its areas of jurisdiction as per Lr. 8 of the constitution.” The Minister said.
The seven committees is chaired by Suleyman Abdullahi Hassan while others include, Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali, Safiya Sheikh Ali, Yahye Omar Hersi, Hassan Haji Mire, Khalid Abdi Hayir, Abdiweli Mohamud Ali.
Galmudug which is composed of Mudug and Galgadud region has ten districts which must have elected district councils before the end of President Ahmed Ali Kariye Qorqor term.
