The Federal Republic of Somalia and Republic of Finland have agreed to strengthen already existing bilateral ties between the two nations.

The pledge was made during phone conversation between the Foreign Minister of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad and his Finish counterpart, Pekka Haavisto.

The two sides also exchanged briefs on the impact of Coronavirus, regional cooperation as well as Somalia national reform agenda.

“I spoke on the phone with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, H.E Pekka Haavisto, We exchanged briefs on the impacts and response of COVID19. We also discussed our National Reform Agenda, and regional cooperation. We agreed to further strengthen cooperation between Somalia and Finland.” Foreign Minister Ambassador Awad tweeted.

Helsinki’s planned budget frame for Somalia in 2017–2020 is EUR 25.7 million.

It is mainly supported in the reconstruction of the recuperating state through political dialogue, development cooperation, crisis management, and humanitarian aid.
