Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman who served as the speaker of the Jubbaland assembly in the past parliament has been re-elected for the second term.
Sheikh Abdi Mohamed garnered 55 votes while his only contender received 18 votes.
73 members of the newly elected members voted for the assembly leadership.
The new speaker was sworn in the Jubbaland state chief justice to assume office immediately.
The Presidential elections are scheduled on Thursday 22nd August.
