A Delegation by led the United Nations envoy for Somalia, ambassador, James Swan met Jubbaland leader, Ahmed Mohamed Islam in Kismayo on Tuesday.
The visit is part of a tour to start a series of consultations with a range of stakeholders in the country’s the Federal Member States.
Accompanied by representatives from African Union, Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the European Union, the Special Representative for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) early visited Baidoa and Jowhar where he met state leaders of Southwest state and Hirshabelle.
The discussions between the delegation and Jubbaland President, Ahmed Islam and some of his cabinet were centered on Somalia’s priorities for 2020 and how to achieve them including upcoming elections.
Jubbaland leader has called upon the international community to play its part to help those affected by the floods in his region.
