Police boss responds following public outcry over his comment

Somali police chief Commissioner, Abdi Hijaar has responded Saturday afternoon following public outcry over his comment on the casualty figures of Yesterday’s suicide bomb in Mogadishu.

Hijaar on a video clip caught telling Mogadishu mayor, Omar Mohamud Filish not to disclose number of the casualties caused by suicide bomb at police checkpoint in Ex-control locality.

Video has went viral on social media and thousands of Somali netizens had reacted over the chief’s remarks.

“It was impossible to give the exact figure of the casualties so we wanted to wait until we have visited the hospitals,” the police chief said.

No one claimed responsibility for the blast though al-Shabaab regularly carries out such attacks.
