Jubbaland deputy leader in Mandera following a rejection by locals in Gedo region

Jubbaland State of Somalia deputy leader, Mohamud Sayyid Adan is in the border town of Mandera for the past week.

Mr. Sayyid embarked on a regional tour in Gedo on behalf of Kismayo based administration but his visit was marred by protests from the local residents who are against the election of Ahmed Mohamed Islam.

His trip to Beled-Hawo, the administrative capital of the region in a bid to garner support for his administration against the federal government stance was met with rejection, likewise, efforts by local traditional leaders to allow him and delegation in were futile.

Jubbaland deputy leader who is from the region only managed to visit Elwak district out other seven districts namely Beled-Hawo, Bardere, Dolow, Garbaharey, Luuq, and Burdubo.

He blamed the federal government of Somalia for restrictions on his movement in the region.

The development comes as some district officials in the Gedo region withdraw their support for Jubbaland state saying they no longer have faith with the administration and thus came under the federal government.

A statement by the Forum for National Parties in Mogadishu on Sunday blamed the Ethiopian government for interfering it Somali domestic affairs.

The forum said President Farmajo’s government is colluding with Ethiopian troops who are not part of AMISOM mission against state officials in Gedo who are loyal to Jubbaland’s Ahmed Mohamed Islam.

Ahmed Modobe is in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi where he traveled to days ago.
The Somali government has rejected the results of his re-election in August for disregarding the Ministry of Interior and Federal affairs regulations on state elections.
