Two victims of Mogadishu mayor office blast to succumb to injuries

Two victims of Mogadishu municipal premises blast have been confirmed to have succumbed to their injuries on Saturday.

In a Facebook post, Somali minister for Sports, Khadija Mohamed Diriye confirmed the death said one of the twelve victims who were airlifted to Qatar for further treatment has passed away in a hospital in Doha, Qatar.

“One of the injured (persons) brought to Doha, late Mohamed Osman Ali, his wife is with us here. May Allah provide her with all the patience to overcome this dearest loss,” said the minister in her post.

In separate, another victim of Mogadishu municipal blast succumbed to injuries in Erdogan hospital in Mogadishu. The deceased was identified as Mohamed Abdalla Aqil who was the director of Benadir Secretariat.

Last Thursday, 12 of the most severely wounded people in Wednesday’s suicide attack were airlifted to Qatar for treatment.

Among those on board was the mayor of the Somali capital Mogadishu, Abdirahman Omar Osman — who also is the governor of Banadir.

Osman was severely wounded in Wednesday’s attack as he was meeting with his deputies and the city’s district chairpersons about security challenges.

According to the government officials, the health condition of mayor is returning to normal as he undergoing treatment.
