Turkey condemns Monday’s bomb blast in Mogadishu

Turkish government has condemned the deadly car bomb in Mogadishu, the capital of Mogadishu.

Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) on Monday morning went off a police check point near KM4 junction, killing 17 people and injuring over 10.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the heinous attacks against civilian areas.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack perpetrated this morning by a car bomb in Mogadishu, causing death and injury of numerous people,” the Ministry said.

The ministry wished a quick recovery to the victims who were wounded in the bombing.

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, a speedy recovery to the wounded and convey our condolences to the friendly and brotherly Government and people of Somalia,” it condoled.

In a statement posted on its affiliate media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack saying it targeted government soldiers at Security Checkpoint.

The blast came just two days after security agencies warned of possible vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack on unspecified locations in the restive capital, Mogadishu.

Two weeks ago, armed al-Shabaab fighters stormed a hotel in Kismayo town of Southern Somalia, killing more 26 innocent civilians.
