Somali President vows to step up war on terror sympathizers

Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has vowed his government will step up war on armed group al-Shabaab sympathizers within the government institutions.

The head of state was speaking during an emergency meeting with security chiefs on Friday following al-Shabaab claimed suicide attack on Mogadishu mayor’s office on Wednesday in which six government officials were killed and several others were wounded including the governor of Banadir region, Abdirahman Omar Osman.

The President said it unacceptable for governmental officials to cooperate with the terror organization.
“It is impossible for sympathizers of terrorist to live with us.” The Presidential Spokesman, Abdinur Mohamed said.

It is suspected that officials within the government possibly former defectors closely cooperate with al-Shabaab by helping them facilitate access to carry out attacks.

According to sources, the female suicide bomber was responsible for the surprise attack though intelligence report showed there was an upcoming attack.
